  1. Resource Description
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a progressive disease and the most common type of dementia. AD affects more than five million Americans, is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., and lacks treatments to slow progression or prevent the disease. The CIRM hPSC Repository contains human induced pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) representing sporadic AD. Patient data includes cognitive characterization, and family and clinical histories; many samples also include genotype data. Cognitively healthy elderly controls matching AD patients with respect to age and gender are also available.
