  1. Resource Description
Blindness affects one in 28 Americans over the age of 39, or approximately 3.3 million Americans. Nearly all of these cases result from eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) are the most common causes of permanent vision loss worldwide. The CIRM hPSC Repository contains human induced pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) representing AMD, POAG and PDR. Demographic information and a brief clinical history are available for each subject enrolled. Control samples with no presence of ophthalmic disorders, as well as patients with diabetes but without retinopathy, are also available.
